Match what your door is doing to the likely cause, try the safe checks first, and know when to stop and call.
Stop first if: the door is crooked, off its track or very heavy, a cable is hanging loose, or you see a gap in the spring above the door. Don’t run the opener or pull the emergency release. Call (689) 400-1172, day or night.
Find the symptom, try the safe check, then follow the link if it’s a repair.
Check that the opener has power and the outlet or GFCI hasn’t tripped, and that the wall control isn’t in lock mode. If the motor hums but the door won’t move, or the door feels very heavy, a spring has probably broken. Stop and call.
Spring repairAlmost always the photo-eye sensors: something in the beam, dirty lenses or a sensor knocked out of line. Clear the doorway, wipe the lenses and check that both sensor lights are steady.
Sensor repairOften a spring or cable problem, or a roller binding in the track. The opener’s force limit stops the door when it meets too much resistance. Don’t keep trying.
Cable repairOne side has dropped, usually from a snapped cable or a roller out of the track. Don’t run the opener and don’t pull the emergency release. Keep clear and call.
Off-track repairReplace the remote battery, check that the wall control isn’t in lock or vacation mode, then reprogram the remote. If it still fails, the receiver or logic board may need attention.
Opener repairWorn rollers, dry hinges, loose hardware or a failing opener gear. A sudden loud bang with no other noise is often a spring breaking, so check the spring above the door.
Roller and track repairSome fixes take a minute. Others can hurt you.

If the safe checks didn’t fix it, the inspection will. We check the whole system, tell you what’s wrong and the price before any work, and carry the most common parts on the truck.

Call (689) 400-1172Start with power: make sure the opener is plugged in, the outlet or GFCI hasn’t tripped, and the wall control isn’t locked. If the motor hums but the door doesn’t move, or the door is very heavy, a spring has likely broken, so stop using it and call.
The photo-eye sensors are the usual cause. Something in the beam, dirty lenses or a misaligned sensor makes the opener reverse the door as a safety response.
Only if the springs and cables are intact. With a broken spring or cable, the door is carrying its full weight and can drop, so don’t pull the emergency release or lift it. Call instead.
Power and the GFCI, the remote battery and wall control lock, the photo-eye sensors and their lights, and whether the trolley is engaged. Stop there if the door is crooked, heavy or a spring looks broken.
