All garage door servicesNot ready to replace the door before storm season? We add reinforcement struts or storm braces to your existing door and rebalance it for the extra weight.

The garage door is the largest opening in most homes, and a wide double door has a long span with nothing holding it in the middle. In high wind it bows in, and if it fails, wind pressure inside the garage can damage the roof and walls.
Bracing shortens that span. Horizontal struts stiffen each section, and vertical braces tie the door to the header and floor.
What Florida code requiresWe use bracing designed for your door, and we’ll tell you honestly if a rated replacement makes more sense.
Best done well before storm season, not the week a storm is forecast.

Its size, condition, existing struts and any product approval label.
A kit designed for your door, sized for its width and height.
Struts fixed across the sections, or header and floor mounts for storm braces.
The door is heavier now, so the springs are adjusted to match.
A balance and opener test, plus a walkthrough of putting up removable braces.

Call (689) 400-1172It’s reinforcement added to an existing door so it flexes less under wind pressure. It’s usually horizontal steel struts fixed across the sections, vertical storm braces that bolt to the header and floor, or both.
Not automatically. Bracing strengthens the door, but only a door with a Florida Product Approval for your address’s wind load is rated. If you’re replacing the door, a rated door is the long-term answer.
Only removable vertical braces. They go up before a storm and come down after, so they need storage space. Horizontal struts stay on the door permanently.
Struts and braces add weight to the door. The springs have to be rebalanced for the new weight, or the door will be heavy, and the opener and springs will wear out faster.
Wide double doors, older doors with few or no reinforcement struts, and doors on homes that face open areas, where wind builds up before it hits the house.
Book a visit before storm season. We’ll check your door and recommend bracing, or a rated replacement if that’s the smarter call.
